Endoscopic Forehead Lift and Rejuvenation of the Brow and Forehead
The goal of the forehead and brow rejuvenation is to raise the brow, diminish or eliminate horizontal creases of the forehead, erase the frowning lines and provide the patient with an "open look to her/his face".

Traditionally, this procedure was done with an incision extending from ear to ear on top of the head or incisions on the anterior hairline from ear to ear. The new technique allows, in over 98% of patients, a virtually "scarless" surgery.

Dr. Ramirez makes between 3-4 small incisions (<1" long) in the scalp above the hairline. In one incision, he enters a fiberoptic tube (endoscope that is connected to a camera), which in turn is connected to a video monitor on which the surgeon can view the surgical area. Through the other incisions, he inserts small surgical instruments under the scalp and forehead to remove the unwanted frowning muscles and reposition the brow. Dr. Ramirez has designed many instruments for this specific purpose. After the tissues have been released from their attachments around the orbital rim (eye socket) and the temple areas, the entire forehead and brow is lifted as a unit in a vertical direction. The tissues are temporarily immobilized in the elevated position. Dr. Ramirez uses two tiny metal posts to anchor the scalp to the deep tissues. These are removed painlessly in about ten days.

"In my hands the Endoscopic Forehead Lift is a much safer operation than the Open Forehead Lift." The risks of infection, scarring, numbness and hair loss is significantly less compared with the open approach. Complications that occur after surgery such as numbness and hair loss are temporary and usually resolve within a few weeks or months, Swelling and recovery time is shortened significantly using the endoscopic methods.
